Vera Drake

Action

Beginning of the 1950s in the United Kingdom: House wife Vera Drake takes care of sacrificing her sick mother and her two children. Also in the neighborhood they would like to help with any problems. While her husband with his brother runs a car repair shop, Vera Drake earned various cleaning jobs, add a little money. However, she also has a secret: When it is necessary, it performs free abortions.

The Film Review Board Wiesbaden ( FBW) gave the film the title of " most valuable". In its reasoning, the assessment body described the film as a " [m ] eisterhafte milieu and character study of Mike Leigh, the tradition of the English, free cinema ' continues and the sensationally good Actress ( Imelda Staunton ) creates an authentic image, the time (1950, London), social climate and oppressive feelings perfectly reflects ".
