A Swarm of Angels

A Swarm of Angels ( ASOA ) is an open source film project that it has set itself the goal of producing the world's first feature film to be fully financed by the possibilities of the Internet, developed and marketed.

The project aims to 50,000 individuals ( the " Swarm of Angels" ) win for you to register on his website and contribute £ 25 each to produce. By registering and the contribution of the users have the right to participate actively in the planning and design of the film.

The finished film and its affiliated media should be placed under a Creative Commons license and so the free downloading, distributing or modifying the material are allowed.

Participant

Initiator of the project is a film producer and writer Matt Hanson, also the founder of onedotzero film festival. He describes the project as a prelude to Cinema 2.0: A Cinema, which is designed by those who want to watch it later.

More employees and consultants are science fiction author Cory Doctorow and copyright activist, comic book writer Warren Ellis, Digital Film producer Tommy Pallotta and The Kleptones as producers of the soundtrack.

Developments

On 21 September 2006, the members were allowed to vote for the first time some of the decisions for the film. Since then, two suggestions for topics called The Unfold and Glitch were developed. Meanwhile glitch was renamed The Ravages and is now being drafted by a team of writers to complete the script.

In May 2006, A Swarm of Angels won the Next Big Thing Web Award. In February 2008, Matt Hanson presented the project at the Berlinale.
