Abd al-Wahid II

Abd al- Wahid II al-Rashid (Arabic عبد الواحد الرشيد, DMG ʿ Abd al - Wahid al-Rashid, Rashid also ) was the ninth Caliph of the Almohad ( 1232-1242 ).

Abd al- Wahid al-Rashid II succeeds his father Idris I. al - Mamun (1227-1232), under whose rule the empire was badly shaken by the attack on the Almohad institutions. A new stabilization should not succeed. After the fall of the Hafsids of Tunis ( 1229 ) explained this in 1236 officially announced their independence.

A year earlier the Berber tribe of the Abdalwadiden had established an independent kingdom with its capital in Tlemcen in western Algeria.
