Abu al-Hasan as-Said al-Mutadid

Ali Abu al -Hasan al- Said (Arabic علي أبو الحسن المعتضد بالله السعيد بن المأمون, DMG ʿ Alī Abū l - Ḥasan al -Mu ʿ taḍid bi- llāh as- Sa ʿ īd b. Al - Ma ʾ mun ) was the tenth caliph of the Almohads ( 1242 -1248 ).

As the successor of his brother Abd al - Wahid al-Rashid II (1232-1242) tried Ali Abu al -Hasan al- Said to preserve the Almohadenreich at least in Morocco. First, he could achieve success, as he with the Marinids / Banu Marin, the former enemies of the Almohad conclude an alliance and could use them as mercenaries against the Abdalwadiden. But soon the Marinids by the Almohads fell off again and began the conquest of northern Morocco. 1245 and 1248 went Meknes Fes to the Marinids lost, so that the northern Morocco controlled.

Among his two successors Umar al - Mustafiq (1248-1266) and Abu Dabis (1248-1269), the Almohads were able to maintain until 1269 in southern Morocco. With the conquest of Marrakesh by the Marinids ( 1269 ), the empire of the Almohads was finally crushed.

In Dante's Divine Comedy Caliph Ali Abu al -Hasan al- Said appears as " spotted moon " in appearance.
