Abdelwahab Abdallah

Abdelwahab Abdallah (Arabic عبد الوهاب عبد الله, DMG ʿ Abd al - ʿ Abd Allāh Wahhāb; born February 14, 1940 in Monastir ) is a Tunisian diplomat and politician.

Biography

After attending primary school in Sbeïtla and the Young Gymnasium in Sousse and the Lycée Alaoui in Tunis, he studied Public Law and Political Science at the University of Caen (France). After the completion of this study with a licentiate diplomas and he completed postgraduate studies at the University of Paris, where he graduated with a doctorate in law.

Subsequently, he worked at the Faculty of Law of the University of Caen, before he was from 1971 one after another employee of the Institute of Business Administration, the Faculty of Law of the University of Tunis and the Institute of Press and Information Sciences in Tunis. Later he became a member of the staff of the Minister of National Education and then legal adviser to the Minister. After working as an attaché in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, he was Head of Cabinet of the director of the presidential cabinet.

He was then only Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Culture and thereafter the Minister of Information, before in 1979 he was President and General Manager of the Company for printing industry, press and publishing and also the director of the daily newspaper " La Presse de Tunisie ". On 6 August 1986 he was appointed director of the State Press Agency Tunis Afrique Press.

On September 10, 1987, he was finally appointed himself to the information minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Rachid Sfar and held that post under Sfars successors Zine el- Abidine Ben Ali and Hedi Baccouche to October 1988 from. During this time it also came to the overthrow of President Habib Bourguiba by General Ben Ali in November 1987 (Jasmin Revolt ). In January 1988, he was elected as a candidate beyond the Constitutional Democratic Rally Party (RCD) as a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Chambre des députés ), in which he represented the interests of the constituency of Monastir. In July 1988, Abdallah was also a member of the central committee of the RCD.

In October 1988 he was appointed ambassador to Great Britain. In this role he was also accredited as Ambassador to Ireland.

After his return Abdallah was born on December 20, 1990 and Ministerial spokesman of President Ben Ali. After thirteen years as a spokesman for the president, he gave this office in November 2003, Abdelaziz Ben Dhia from, but continued to Ministerial and was also head of the Department of Political and Regional Affairs in Presidential Office.
