Abdulla Yameen

Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom Yameen ( born May 21, 1959 in Malé ) is a Maldivian politician of the Progressive Party of the Maldives and is since November 17, 2013 President of the Maldives.

Life

Yameen is the younger half-brother of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who was for three decades, President of the Maldives. Yameen visited the Majeediyya School and studied at the American University of Beirut and at Claremont Graduate University. On September 7, 2013 Yameen won the presidential election. It follows the recent Mohammed Waheed Hassan in office. Yameen is married.
