Description

Abies hidalgensis grows as a evergreen tree. The straight stem ends in a columnar to conical crown. In young trees the branches are slightly upwards. With age, they bend down. The smooth bark of young trees is colored light gray. She tears in older trees in irregularly large, thick plates and has a blood-red inner bark. The hairy bark of the branches is initially light brown, later gray-brown colored. After about five to six years, the branches lose their hair. The slightly resinous branches are densely covered with 0.2 to 0.3 mm long, yellowish brown hairs.

The slightly resinous buds are flat and are covered by up to 15 bud scales. The slightly up or down, curved needles are 1 to 6 inches long. Your tip can be both broad split in two. While the needle are shiny dark green colored or matt gray-green,, the needle base on a silver-gray color. However, the midrib and the needle edges show a greenish tinge. At the needle bottom you will find two silver Stomatabänder. The needles are arranged in a comb shape on the branches.

The 1.2 -centimeter-long male cones are at a roughly 3 mm long stalk. The pale green, female cones are between 2.5 and 3 inches long. The cylindrical cones are 6.5 to 8 inches long and 3.5 to 4 inches thick. You are at a 0.4 to 1 centimeter long stem, are matured through colored green and are covered by a whitish layer of dust. The roughly triangular seed show resin bubbles and have a bright yellowish-green wings.
