ACDSee

The term ACDSee has become synonymous with the software products of the company ACD Systems and usually refers to the Photo Manager ACDSee - currently in version 17, but often also the many -year-old predecessor versions. Then there are the ACDSee Pro Series with a different versioning; it is misunderstandings can arise because of the scope naturally deviates significantly from about the Photo Manager ACDSee Pro 4 from the year 2011, for example, the image viewer ACDSee 4 from 2002.

History

As an image viewer program belongs in the early versions of the most widespread of its kind and already offered a variety of options for viewing, organization and management. The basic functionalities have since been divided into two main sections, the overview mode (browser) and the single-shot mode (viewer). Version 1.0 was released in 1996 and was already running under the operating system Windows 3.1. Since version 3.0, the development went from being just a viewer in the direction of image management, which made ​​itself felt on the functionality and on the file size.

In the more recent versions as more important functionalities such as an image editor, different output processors (HTML, PowerPoint, print layout, etc.) as well as database functions have been added.

In September 2007, ACDSee Pro has established itself as Professional Version 2 on the one hand by major expansions of the image processing in the image editor, color management, batch processing, IPTC and EXIF ​​editing, etc. but especially by the implemented here powerful RAW converter. Since version ACDSee Pro 2.5 (September 2008), the program supports XMP.

Significant change in the Pro version 3.0 was the new user interface with the underlying editing modes Assets view - processing -Online. In processing mode, this example Images are processed as nondestruktiv in JPG format with the same tools and, as such in RAW format.

In version 4.0, the introduction of a geotagging functionality, in addition to improving the RAW converter, the opportunity to correct chromatic aberrations and color fringing and a modified management of metadata were essential.

With version 5.0, some improvements in the RAW converter (default adjustments, sharpness mask ), a batch export tool, organizational labels, a drawing tool, as well as some additional special effects have been added. ACDSee supports color management, but not CMYK color profiles.

Version 6.0 introduces besides numerous additions and improvements to the development and processing capabilities ( development Brush, Healing Brush, noise reduction, clarity, RAW B & W mode, Cross Process, etc.) a hierarchical model of the keyword database and a separate 64-bit version. With the new color management architecture, Microsoft ICM or Little CMS can be selected as a color management engine.

In version 7.0 in development mode, many more tools for developing brush are available, also many new non-destructive adjustment brush are made available. In addition, multi-monitor setups are now very well supported.

Since 2011, ACDSee Pro is also available in a standalone version for Mac OS X.

For the German-speaking world, except for ACDSee Pro ( Mac), all products available only for Microsoft Windows.

ACDSee Pro

ACDSee Pro 6 provides an environment for photo editing and photo management with a raw data development and processing are available. The software offers the following main user interface to:
