Ace Rusevski

Ace Rusevski ( Macedonian: Аце Русевски; born November 30, 1956 in Kumanovo, Republic of Macedonia ) is a former Yugoslavian boxer.

Amateur career

In 1974, he was after final defeat by Zoran Jovanovic from Serbia, Yugoslav Vice- featherweight champion. In the same year he took part in the 3rd European Junior Championships in Kiev, where he won the bronze medal in the featherweight. In 1975 he was Balkans featherweight champion.

In 1976 he was after final defeat by Dragan Milenković from Croatia, Yugoslav vice-champion at lightweight and won the Balkan Championships at lightweight. In addition, he took the light weight of the Summer Olympic Games in 1976 partly in Montreal, where he could reach the bronze medal. He defeated while Gerard Hamill from Ireland, Roberto Andino Puerto Rico, Reinaldo Valiente from Cuba and Yves Jeudy from Haiti, before he was defeated in the first semi-final against the superior American Howard Davis.

1977 and 1978 he was Yugoslav champion in light weight, and in June 1974 in Halle also European champion at lightweight. He struck the Turks Hasan Oğuz (5:0), the Poland Ryszard Tomczyk ( 5:0 ), the German René Weller (5-0 ) and in the final Christian Zornow from East Germany (5-0 ).

1979 and 1980 he was Yugoslav champion in the light welterweight division. He was also a participant in the in May 1979 staged in Cologne European Championship in the welterweight, where he, however, already in the first fight with the German Karl -Heinz Kruger defeated on points. However, in September 1979, he was in the light welterweight, winning the 8th Mediterranean Games in Split.

In 1980 he took part in the still light welterweight at the Summer Olympics in Moscow, but could not reach the medal ranks. After victories against Margarit Atanasov from Bulgaria and Boualem Belaouane from Algeria, he moved into the quarter-finals, where he defeated almost 2:3 against the Italians and later gold medalist Patrizio Oliva. He then became a professional.

Professional career

As a professional boxer, he fought in France, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Italy, Germany, Canada, Puerto Rico and Denmark. In his fifth fight he defeated former Italian champion Luciano Navarra by Ko in the third round, and in March 1983 the former German champion Tony Habermayer on points. After 14 fights he lost unexpectedly gained building the Dominican Felix Reyes on points. After seven more fights, including a defeat and three draws, he denied June 23, 1987 his last boxing match against Bobby Jones, he won on points.
