Achim-Verden Geest

The Achim- Verden Geest is a branch of the Stader Geest in the central and north-eastern Lower Saxony.

Geography

The Achim- Verden Geest is located in the district of Verden and in the old district of Rotenburg ( Wümme) and extends north of the river Weser in west-east direction. To the north it is bounded by the also part of the Stader Geest Wümme lowlands, which partly forms the Hellweger moor here. Historically, the area belongs to the former territory of Verden. In the far east of the Lintelner Geest forms (also Verden Heath ) a transition from Stader Geest the Lüneburg Heath. Greatest place there is Kirchlinteln. Some of the municipalities has the composite connected for the sake of tourism and infrastructure planning Mittelweser region or tourist oriented in the direction of the better known Lüneburg Heath. In the urban area are the Verden Verden dunes.

Landscape

The Achim- Verden Geest displays from West to East a transition from big-city Bremen area to agricultural embossed area in the field of Lintelner Geest. Are typical moraine hills with extensive forest, heath and moorland areas where many energy is derived from wind power.
