Aclou
Aclou is a commune with 271 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. It belongs to the Communauté de communes rurales Local Government Association du canton de Brionne.
Geography
Aclou lies in the valley of Risle on the border between Lieuvin and Roumois twelve kilometers northeast of Bernay and three kilometers southwest of the cantonal capital of Brionne.
History
When the Autoroute A28 was built led to a preventive archaeological research at Les Fossettes, an undeveloped district of Aclou. It was found during an excavation of post holes and two fireplaces dating from the Neolithic period, the remains of a building of about 20 mx 8 m size.
About 1837 a Roman cameo was found in the municipality. 1848 fifty Roman coins with images of Nero, Domitian, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Faustina found from the 1st and 2nd century in the hamlet of La Mouqetière.
Aclou was a fief of the monastery of Saint- Lô in Rouen, which was confirmed in documents 1171-1182 of Henry II of England in the 11th century. In that document Aclou Arclou was called.
The Old Mill of Aclou from the 12th century situated in a hamlet, which was formerly named after her. Today, however, the hamlet is called Valle Ville and is one of Brionne.

Culture and sights
- A tithe barn from the second half of the 15th century.
- A stone statue of John the Baptist from the 16th century is located in the Church of Saint- Rémi, which dates from the 12th century, but was later rebuilt several times.
Economy
A large part of Aclouais works in agriculture. It is produced mainly cereals.
The municipal area controlled designation of origin (AOC ) for Calvados and pommeau ( pommeau de Normandie ) and protected geographical indication ( PGI ) for Pork ( Porc de Normandie), poultry ( Volailles de Normandie) and cider ( Cidre de Normandie and cider normand ) apply.
