Bosrobert

Bosrobert is a commune with 590 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. It belongs to the Association of Local Authorities Communes rurales du canton de Brionne.

Geography

Bosrobert located on the southwest corner of the Roumois, 19 kilometers northeast of Bernay in the valley of the brook Bec, between Saint -Martin- du- Parc, a hamlet of Le Bec- Hellouin, in the southwest and Malleville -sur -le- Bec in the north. To Bosrobert include the hamlets and farmhouses Saint- taurine -des- Ifs, Le Désert, Le Moulin du Parc and Daudiot - GUILLOUET.

History

Bosrobert lay on the Roman road of Lisieux ( Noviomagus Lexoviorum ) about Brionne ( Breviodurum ) to La Bouille (Seine- Maritime). East of the village Gallo- Roman pottery shards were found.

Bosrobert to have gotten its name from Robert de Meules ( † after 1101), son of Baudouin de Meules († 1090 ). Thus Bosrobert belonged to the county and Robert de Brionne Meules away the town in 1085 to the Abbey Le Bec. In any case, the Church of Saint- Pierre in Bosrobert belonged in 1141 the Abbey Le Bec. At the beginning of the 13th century was Raoul de Recuchon ( † before 1232) Seigneur of Bosrobert. His seal is found on a charter of 1221, where he called Radulphi de Bos - Roberti. Most residents had Bosrobert 1836 (562), then the population fell to 1968 (212). Since 1968 the population has increased again.

The church of Saint - taurine in Saint- taurine -Des- Ifs was closed and is now used as a residence.

Culture and sights

To 1474, the nave of the church Saint- Pierre was rebuilt. In the second half of the 18th century, the present chancel was built. On the altar of the church there is a bas-relief from the 17th century depicting Mary with the children of Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist. The relief in the style of Louis Quatorze - 1907 was classified as a monument historique (historic monument). In addition, in the church is a large stone statue of the " Virgin and Child " from the 14th or 15th century, which was also registered as a monument historique in 1907.

The valley of Bec is in its whole length, classified on the municipalities of Bosrobert, Le Bec- Hellouin and Pont- Authou as Site Inscrit ( natural monument ).

Economy

The image of the church is dominated by pastures, woods and fields. Major lines of business of Bosrobertois are timber industry, agriculture and the breeding of domestic animals, snails and domestic horses.

The municipal area protected geographical indication ( PGI ) for Pork ( Porc de Normandie), poultry ( Volailles de Normandie) and cider ( Cidre de Normandie and cider normand ) apply.
