Action Party for the Independence of Kurdistan

The Independent Party of the Workers of Kurdistan ( Kurdish: Party Khabat bo Serbogoy Kurdistan ) is a splinter organization of the Iraqi Communist Party.

History

The party was initially led by Muhammad ( Hussein ) Halleq, but was murdered on November 2, 1995. After his death, worsened relations with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK ), since the Kurdistan Workers were on the part of the Independent Party suspicions, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was behind the assassination. Despite these tensions, the party repeatedly tried in recent times to improve their relationship with the PUK.

In parallel, the connection to the PKK has deteriorated, in part because the party spoke out against the refuge of the PKK in northern Iraq.

Today's situation

They say that the new leader of the party was Yousif Hanna (better known as Abu Hikmat ). He is a minister in the cabinet of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Arbil. It is unclear where the offices of the party are. There are allegations about the fact that the party also has offices in Suleimaniyya and Ranya. According to its own reports in Suleimaniyya the office to be headed by a so-called " carbon company ." Other sources indicate that these offices actually represented the party, while the "real " of the party is to belong to the contrary, in Arbil office.
