Adam Johnson (writer)

Adam Johnson ( born July 12, 1967 in South Dakota ) is an American writer.

Life

Adam Johnson was born in South Dakota in 1967 and grew up in Arizona. His studying journalism at Arizona State University he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor, then also acquired a Master of Fine Arts as part of a writing degree at McNeese State University, Louisiana. In 2000 he received his doctorate at Florida State University. He currently lives and works in San Francisco Johnson as a writer and teaches at the Stanford University Creative Writing. He is the founder of the Stanford Graphic Novel Project. The Playboy Magazine named him one of the most inventive and influential college professors in the nation.

2012 appeared in the United States, his novel The Orphan Master 's Son ( dt: The stolen life of orphans June Thu), who was already on the bestseller list of the New York Times a few days after publication.

Before The stolen life of orphans Thu Jun he published under the title Emporium a collection of short stories and the novel Parasites Like Us, which won the California Book Award in 2003. So far, Johnson published in the magazines Harper 's Magazine, Tin House and The Paris Review, as well as in the anthologies Best New American Voices and The Best American Short Stories.

Awards

Johnson has received various awards and scholarships. He was appointed by Amazon.com to Debut Author of the Year in 2002, 2003 was chosen for him, edited by Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers book series from. Most recently, he won the Gina Berriault Litery Award. In April 2013 Johnson was for his North Korea novel The Orphan Master 's Son ( Eng.: The stolen life of orphans June Thu) awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the best novel.
