Adam Nawałka ( born October 23, 1957 in Kraków, Poland ) is a former Polish footballer and current football coach.

Career

Player

Adam Nawałka began his football career in his hometown with Wisła Kraków. With the A - youth of Krakow, he was Polish champion in 1975 and 1976. After that he played in the first team Wisła Kraków and belonged in 1978 to the root formation of Krakow's when they were Polish champion. In the same year he was appointed to the squad for the World Cup 1978 in Argentina. The Polish national football team was eliminated in the second round after defeats to Argentina and Brazil. The young Nawałka played in the midfield of Poland five games in this World Cup. In the National Team, he played 34 games from 1977 to 1980. In 1985 he emigrated to the USA where he worked in New York City as a player and later as a coach.

Coach

In the 1990s, he returned to Poland and acquired the Polish coach ticket. He first worked at a unterklassigen Club, then in 1998 as a youth coordinator for his old club Wisła Kraków to work. In the short term he replaced in 2000 and 2001 dismissed coach of the first team. Since 2002, he trained fourth- to second-class Polish clubs. Since April 2006, he was without a club before he became a coach with Wisła Kraków again. For TV broadcasts of the soccer World Cup in 2006, he served as occasional co-commentator working in the Polish television. Between May 2007 and July 2007, he was assistant coach Leo Beenhakker at the Polish national football team. From 2008 he was a football coach for GKS Katowice by the end of 2009. From 1 January 2010 to 25 October 2013, worked as head coach of the Polish Gornik Zabrze championship record. A day later, on 26 October 2013, the Polish Football Association announced the commitment of Nawałka as national coach of Poland.
