A life for a life - Adam Resurrected ( Alternative title: A life for a life - Adam son of a bitch, Original title: Adam Resurrected ) is an American- German -Israeli film drama directed by Paul Schrader. The film is based on Yoram Kaniuks novel Adam son of a dog, which appeared in Israel in 1968.

Action

The film tells the story of Adam Stein, the patients of a mental hospital for Holocaust survivors in Israel in 1961. Former vaudeville artists stone survived as the only member of his family persecution and concentration camps, because he agreed to the amusement of the concentration camp commandant to slip into the role of a dog. As a neglected boy who thinks he's a dog, is admitted to the hospital, stone can overcome his own trauma during the gradual rapprochement between him and the boys.

Background

The film was shown at numerous international festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, the Haifa Film Festival and the International Film Festival of Valladolid. In Germany it was released in theaters on 19 February 2009.

Reviews

The lexicon of the International film described the film as a " virtuoso developed [s ] Drama ", which would succeed to skillfully combine the various levels of time together. The disturbance of the main character would be so " picture aesthetically visible and empathize ."
