Adelaide Avalanche was a semi-professional Australian ice hockey club from Adelaide, who played in the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2000 to 2008.

History

In 2000, Adelaide Avalanche belonged together with the Sydney Bears and the Canberra Knights of the three founding members of the Australian Ice Hockey League and immediately attracted the Goodall Cup, received by the Australian champion. However, this was the only title in the eight years of club history. A total of six times won the Adelaide V.I.P. Cup as the best team in the regular season. For the Avalanche played numerous foreign hockey players, such as, inter alia, the two Canadian Ex - NHL player Steve McKenna and Mel Angelstad.

The club was disbanded in June 2008 after it ran into financial difficulties. In July 2008, the newly formed Adelaide A's were the starting point of the Avalanche in the Australian Ice Hockey League and played the season after the game plan of the Avalanche to end as with the results already evaluated. At the end of the season, the A's were sixth and changed their name to Adelaide Adrenaline in order to clearly define the boundaries of the Avalanche.
