Adelbert Schulz

Adelbert Schulz ( born December 20 1903 in Berlin, † January 28, 1944 at Šepetovka, Soviet Union ) was a German officer, most recently Major General and Division Commander of the Wehrmacht.

Life

Adelbert Schulz graduated from the Berlin secondary school, the High School and then worked as a bank clerk. From 1923 to 1924 he attended the Graduate School and signed up a year later to the police. In 1934, he was taken over police lieutenant and in 1935 in the Army as a first lieutenant. He participated in the invasions by Austria and the Sudetenland.

In the western campaign in 1940 against France, he was a captain in the 7th Armoured Division. Here he overran Belgian, French and British positions and enabled the breakthrough to Cherbourg. For this application, he received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.

In the section of Army Group Centre, in the space of Klin, hit Schulz as tank commander, a Soviet superiority, and covered the retreat of German troops and a field hospital with over 4,000 wounded and got it on 31 December 1941, the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves awarded. Since January 1943, he was commander of the tank regiment 25 On August 6, 1943 Adelbert Schulz received the Swords to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and was promoted to colonel little later. On December 14, Colonel Schulz received a radio message that he would get the diamonds to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords and should go to the Führer's headquarters. Adelbert Schulz however, refused, on the grounds that a fierce defensive struggle taking place on the Eastern Front, and he had no time for it. After him the award on 9 January 1944 was presented and he has been appointed with immediate effect to major general and commander of the 7th Panzer Division. A short time later Adelbert Schulz was killed in a grenade hit.
