Adema

Adema is an American Nu-Metal-/Rock-Band from Bakersfield, California, which is also the birthplace of the members of the nu-metal band Korn.

Band History

Founded Adema in 1998 in California by Mark Chavez ( vocals), half-brother of Jonathan Davis, and Mike Ransom (guitar), to which, however, soon the former members of the band Juice, Dave DeRoo (bass) and Tim Fluckey (guitar), joined. The drummer Kris Kohls was added until a year later, when the now -written songs should be recorded on a demo tape. After they had sent this tape to all the major labels, there was a contest this to the newcomers, in which eventually could Arista Records prevail.

In August 2001, it came to the release of their first studio album, Adema, which could reach gold status in the United States. The single releases Giving In and The Way You Like It could help to make the album sold over 600,000 copies. Due to this success they were then engaged for the first stage of the Ozzfest tour in 2002. The next two releases, the EP Insomniac 's Dream (2002, 50,000 copies limited) and unstable (2003, sold about 110,000 times), Adema failed to match the success of the self-titled Adema, although the song Blame Me, according to Billboard the best for a long time in the history of Nu Metal was.

Due to differences with singer Mark Chavez, guitarist Mike Ransom in September 2003 Adema. In 2004 it came to a fight the rest of the band with Chavez, who has often been criticized for exploiting the reputation of his half-brother for his own career. As a result, these separated by Adema and worked as a singer in the band Midnight Panic on, which was disbanded in 2007. As a replacement was found Luke Caraccioli (formerly Rewind Yesterday ), which brought out the band 2005 album Planets. Luke Caraccioli Adema brought in on this one altered sound. Parts cry fell away and many more soulful passages dominated what Adema in contrast to the previously dominant metal led to a rock based sound.

With the two singles Tornado and Planets, the LP could also sell better again than the previous two albums. In order to join his old band again, Caraccioli but returned to the band after the first publication back to back. This led to a bitter dispute between this and bassist DeRoo, which Caraccioli accused of having planned the escape for some time.

In March 2006, Adema announced on their official MySpace page that Bobby Reeves, will replace to date singer of LEVEL from Los Angeles, Caraccioli, which only a few months later, the guitarist Ed Faris, also former LEVEL member, as a new second guitarist followed.

Her current album, which bears the name Kill the Headlights, appeared on 21 August 2007 in the United States. Their first single was the song Cold and Jaded.

The band distanced themselves increasingly from the genre of Nu Metal and sees himself as a rock band: " We always Considered ourselves as a traditional rock band, rather than a new metal outfit. We're sick of this phrase! " ( Kris Kohls )

On 13 August 2009, the band announced on their MySpace page that Mark Chavez and Mike Ransom return to the band. Already in April 2010 ( Ransom ) and January 2011 ( Chavez) they returned the band but again the back. Because of this, took over Tim Fluckey along with the guitar from now on also on vocals with Adema. For Ransom came in 2011, Marc DeLeon, who initially as a touring bassist for the short time sitting in jail Dave DeRoo replaced, after his return but a permanent member of Adema was, this time as a guitarist.

On April 2, 2013, finally, the often advertised as also shifted EP Topple The Giants were brought out, which in addition to three new songs also includes re-recordings of the previous albums. Prior to publication, it was announced that in future would Marc DeLeon replaced by his son Chris DeLeon, but only as a touring guitarist.
