A•DEvantgarde

A • DEvantgarde is an association of composers in Munich. It was founded in 1991 on the initiative of Wilhelm Killmayer by Moritz Eggert and Sandeep Bhagwati as a registered association A • DEvantgarde - founded new music projects. Since then leads A • DEvantgarde every two years by the A • DEvantgarde Festival.

History

The A • DEvantgarde Festival was previously held alternately with the Munich Biennale for New Music Theatre, which were always held in even-numbered years, while the A • DEvantgarde Festival takes place in odd numbered years. The main purpose of the festival is the premiere or German or Munich premiere of works by contemporary composers, set the other accents as the composers of new music, which so far on the established festivals such as were presented to the Donaueschingen Music Festival, the Darmstadt Summer Courses or the Stuttgart ECLAT Festival. Those festivals are to today organized by curators and established composers, while the A • DEvantgarde Festival is organized by younger curators who focus their attention to change and further development of new music.

So far (as of 2011 ) were carried out eleven festivals. Main partners and sponsors were, for example, the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, the Bavarian Theatre Academy, the State University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the Gasteig cultural Munich, Munich i-camp/Neues theater, the Schwere Reiter cultural, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Bavarian radio. In the period between the individual festival concerts will be held in cooperation with the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, and sound change, such as the concert for the 75th anniversary of the festival initiator Killmayer in 2002.

Members of A • DEvantgarde include besides the founders Moritz Eggert and Sandeep Bhagwati up today Klaus Schedl, Leopold Hurt, Bernhard Weidner, Mark Schmitt, Helga Pogatschar, Markus Muench, Alexander Strauch, Axel F. Singer, Fredrik Panning, John X. Schachtner, Markus Lehmann- Horn, Kay Westerman, Carl Christian Bettendorf, Maxim Seloujanov, Benedict slate and Georg Haider.
