Adigrat is a city in the Tigray region in Ethiopia and the seat of the diocese of Adigrat.
The town is located about 80 km north of Mek'ele near the border with Eritrea, and is thus an important gateway to the Red Sea. The city was formerly residence. Remains of two castles, one of Dej Desta and another of Ras Sebhan, are still present. Today, Adigrat is the capital of the landscape Agame. The Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia are the population for 2005 with 84 769.
