Adilbek Dzhaksybekov

Adilbek Ryskeldinowitsch Schaksybekow ( Kazakh Әділбек Рыскелдіұлы Жақсыбеков, Russian Адильбек Рыскельдинович Жаксыбеков; born July 26, 1954 in Börili, Location Qostanai, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician and since June 2009, Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan. Previously, he had been from 2003 to 2004 Minister of Industry and Trade.

Biography

Adilbek Ryskeldinowitsch Schaksybekow was born on July 26, 1954 in the area Qostanai ind of the Kazakh SSR. In 1982 he graduated from the economic faculty of the State Institute of Film Art in Moscow. In 1995 he was elected to the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the following year he was appointed Deputy Governor of the Aqmola. From December 1997 to June 2003 Schaksybekow was the mayor of the Kazakh capital Astana.

Since June 2003 to December 2004 he was Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From the 19th December 2004, he held the position of Head of the Presidential Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and held since January 23, 2008, he was the first deputy chairman of Nur Otan party. From 11 November 2008 Schaksybekow acted as Kazakh Ambassador to Russia.

Since 24 June 2009, he is Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan.
