Adrian von Mynsicht

Adrian of Mynsicht (* 1588 in Luegde or Ottenstein, † October 29, 1638 in Wittenburg ), actually Adrian S ( e) umenicht, was a German alchemist, physician and chemist. He also published under his name Graecized Tribudenius and under the anagrams Hinricus Madathanus and Harmannus Datichius ( = Hadrianus Saumnicht ).

Life and work

Adrian of Mynsicht was the son of the pastor Anton S ( e) umenicht ( 1555-1643 ) and his wife Anna, born trope, probably born in Ottenstein in the Duchy of Brunswick. He studied from 1605 at the University of Helmstedt and enrolled in 1610 with the title of Master in Rostock. He earned his doctorate in medicine. He worked initially in Magdeburg before he was imprisoned in 1618 Medicus body of Duke Julius Ernst of Brunswick and Lüneburg, and in 1631 the Duke Adolph Friedrich I of Mecklenburg -Schwerin. He lived as a doctor in Wittenburg, where he reportedly died on October 29, 1638.

Adrian of Mynsicht introduced its own pharmacy and a free medical practice. He was a follower of the teachings of Paracelsus iatrochemischen and wrote an alchemical allegory Aureum seculum Redivivum and a pharmaceutical compilation with numerous compound words, including the 1630 tartar emetic first described by him. He described himself as " Comes Palatinus Caesareus " ( imperial Hofpfalzgraf ) and " Poet Laureate " ( laurel -winning poet ).
