Æthelstan of Sussex

Æthelstan (also Athelstan, Athelstan ) was a subregulus ( viceroy ) of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Sussex.

Æthelstan is known only by a single dated to the year 714 Charter, whose dating is potentially flawed and also the time is attributed to 717/724. Its origin is unknown. He was married to Æthelthryth that the title regina ( queen) led. He ruled probably as a king in the eastern part of Sussex. His date of death is unknown. In the years 722 and 725 of the "Upper King ' Ine of Wessex led campaigns against Sussex, where the exiled Aetheling had (such as" Prince " ) Ealdberht recording found. After 733 Aethelberht succeeded as king of Sussex.
