Africa Movie Academy Awards
The African Movie Academy Awards, also known as AMAA Awards, are annual prize awards for African films. They are awarded to honor bests in the African film industry and to promote and unite the African continent through arts and culture. Prominent African politicians, journalists, media professionals and actors / actresses from Hollywood and Africa will take part in the award presentation.
The first AMAA award ceremony was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria on 30 March 2005. All other AMAA Awards were also held in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. 2008, however, the awards for safety reasons had to Abuja, the Nigerian capital, to be laid.
