The unit 5 (short: A5) was a German experimental rocket with a length of 5.825 meters, a diameter of 0.78 meters, a launch weight of 900 kilograms and a takeoff thrust of 15 kN. The drive was carried out with pumped by compressed gas alcohol and liquid oxygen.

The unit 5 replaced the unit -3 missile, which did not meet the expectations set for them. The drive system of unit 5 was adopted by the assembly 3, but received the unit 5, the aerodynamic shape of the planned unit 4, for which she was a test vehicle.

The initial launch of the unit 5 in the summer of 1938 on the Greifswald Oie. From October 1939 five first -guided flights were conducted to test planned for the unit 4 control system with the unit. The unit 5 reached a peak altitude of up to 12 kilometers and could be reused after landing with a parachute.
