Agile snouted tree frog

Scinax agilis ( Syn: Hyla agilis Cruz & Peixoto, 1983) is a species of the subfamily Froschlurch Hylinae within the family of tree frogs. After Faivovich et al. (2005 ) the species is counted within the genus Scinax to Scinax Catharinae clade.

Description

This relatively small kink toes tree frog has a white lateral stripe that runs from the head to the hind legs, and above this strip a brown stripe. The head makes up approximately one-third of the head-body length. From the dorsal view, the snout is pointed and triangular in lateral view somewhat.

Dissemination

This endemic to eastern Brazil species occurs along the coast of the two states of Espírito Santo and Bahia. Scinax agilis is a Tieflandart which only up to about 30 m above sea level. NN increases.

Habitat and Ecology

Scinax agilis lives in bromeliads in the coastal rain forest, bushes of Restinga vegetation and near-coastal open land. He uses temporary waters for reproduction.

Endangering

The IUCN lists Scinax agilis as " not at risk " (Least Concern ). Its widespread distribution and the facts that, to a certain degree it can adapt to anthropogenic habitat changes to the overall population shows a stable trend and is sufficiently large estimated justify this. The editors see it as unlikely that the populations of the species may decrease fast enough to justify a higher level of danger. Scinax agilis occurs in at least three protected areas: Reserva Biológica de Sooretama, Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Estação Veracruz and Reserva Florestal as CVRD Main hazard reasons probably exist in the habitat loss due to agriculture, livestock, logging, settlement, tourism and collecting bromeliads.
