Agit-prop (band)

Agit Prop is the name of a Finnish political music group. The members of the band, which was founded in the early 1970s, come from the environment of the Communist Party of Finland ( SKP).

The founding members included, in addition Pekka Aarnio and Sinikka Sokka the brothers Tapani, Martti and Mika Launis. Other members over the years were Anu Saari, Kiti Neuvonen and Liisa Tavi. The name Agit Prop stems from the Russian word agitprop art, which is composed of the words agitation and propaganda.

In February 1971, the group participated in the GDR at the second festival of political song. Also at the World Festival in 1973 and at the Festival in 1980, the group was among the participants.

Agit Prop, who belonged to the label Love Records released in 1972 the album " agit -propyne kvartetti laulaa työväenlauluja " and in 1977 the album " Laulu kaikille ". In 1995, the compilation appeared " Agit Prop from 1970 to 1977 " with 25 titles.

After 2000, the Group launched a comeback and went on among others on the Provinssirock in Seinäjoki.
