Aglaeactis
Rust Red Andean Hummingbird ( Aglaeactis cupripennis )
The reflectors hummingbirds ( Aglaeactis ) are a genus of small hummingbirds, which are native to the higher regions of the Andes. They reach a length of twelve to thirteen centimeters. The males are characterized by bright violet or malachitgrüne back and Bürzelfedern. They inhabit the Páramo, evergreen mountain forests and scrub at altitudes 2500-4300 m. Their diet consists of flower nectar and insects.
System
There are four species which occur in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia:
- Rust Red Andean hummingbird or Rose Schiller Hummingbird ( Aglaeactis cupripennis ) - Distribution: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
- Rotbrust- Andean Hummingbird Hummingbird or marmoset ( Aglaeactis castelnaudii ) - distribution: Huánuco, Pasco and Junin in central Peru.
- White breast Andean Hummingbird Purple Hummingbird back or purple wings Hummingbird ( Aglaeactis aliciae ) - distribution: La Libertad, Peru
- Black Belly Andean hummingbird or Pamelakolibri ( Aglaeactis pamela ) - distribution: Cordillera Real, Bolivia
