Ago Markvardt

Ago Markvardt ( born August 11, 1969 in Elva ) is a former Soviet / Estonian nordic combined.

Markvardt won bronze medals with the Soviet team at the Junior World Championships in 1988 and 1989. In 1989 he won the bronze medal further in the individual competition.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1994, he was after the ski jumping in second place, but could not hold this position in the subsequent cross-country and had to settle for fifth place. Together with Allar Levandi and Magnar Freimuth he narrowly missed an Olympic medal in the team competition. The Estonian team finished fourth. 1997 Markvardt re just missed a medal at a major international event. At the Nordic World Ski Championships he won in individual competition also in fourth place.

Markvardts best result in a World Cup competition was an eighth place in 1994 in Trondheim, he could win in Lahti in 1996 again. In the B- World Cup Markvardt to achieve its best results in 1996 in Germany. He won the competitions in Schonach and Oberhof. In Hinterzarten he took the second place and in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he finished third. In 1997, he finished his career.

Since his career end Ago Markvardt has worked as a jump judge.
