Agostinho Januszewicz

Augustyn Stefan Januszewicz OFM Conv, also free Dom Agostinho Stefan Januszewicz, ( born November 29, 1930 in Podwojponie, Poland, † March 20, 2011 in Brasilia, Brazil) was Bishop of Luziânia.

Life

Augustyn Januszewicz joined in 1950 the Order of the Friars Minor at and put on 4 October 1954, the perpetual profession from. On August 3, 1953 he was ordained a priest by Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski, the Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw, and then went into the mission. In 1974 he received his doctorate in systematic theology.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 29 March 1989 for the first Bishop of Luziânia. The Archbishop of Brasília, José Freire Falcão Cardinal, gave him on 10 June of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Manuel Pestana Filho, Bishop of Anápolis, and José da Silva Chaves, Bishop of Uruacu.

He was the founder of Maximilian Kolbe Province of Friars Minor in Brazil.

On 15 September 2004 Pope John Paul II accepted his pre- mounted resignation for reasons of age.
