Agostino Barelli

Agostino Barelli (* 1627 in Bologna; † around 1687 ) was an Italian architect and builder. His style was followed by the Italian High Baroque.

Life

Barelli was appointed by the Elector Ferdinand Maria of Bavaria and his wife Henriette Adelaide as a court architect to Munich. Barelli designed the Theatinerkirche, however, was due to malpractice ( he mistook Roman with bolognesischem feet) the supervisor Spinelli assumed. Model of the Church was the mother church of Sant'Andrea della Valle of the Order in Rome, the two monumental towers were added. In the years 1663 to 1674 so that was one of the earliest Baroque buildings north of the Alps.

Barelli designed in 1664 and the plans for the Nymphenburg Palace. He was replaced in 1674 by Enrico Zuccalli as court architect and returned to Bologna.

At the age of about 60 years Agostino Barelli probably died in 1687 in Bologna.
