Agricultural aircraft

An agricultural aircraft is an aircraft that is specially equipped and approved for use in agriculture. The purpose of such an aircraft is in particular the application of liquid or solid substances for pest control and fertilization on large, sometimes inaccessible areas. To this end, it has a large chemical containers and application equipment for the application of the respective substances. At least the smaller agricultural aircraft are flown solo. The second seat will be replaced mostly in favor of a larger cargo capacity by a tank.

The air resistance is negligible due to the low speed, but great emphasis is placed on safe flight characteristics at low speed and easy operation. Special agricultural aircraft are usually robust, often single-engine aircraft with fixed landing gear and without pressurized cabin, equipped with a particularly powerful engine. Many agricultural aviators are STOL -capable.

It is also possible to temporarily provide multi-purpose aircraft, such as the Antonov An-2 with a suitable equipment and then to be used as an agricultural aircraft. Helicopters are also used in agricultural aviation.
