Ahmet Tevfik Pasha

Ahmed Tevfik Pasha ( born February 11, 1845 in Istanbul, † October 8, 1936 ibid ) was the last Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire.

His father was the general of the cavalry İsmail Hakkı Pasha and his mother Gülşinas Banu.

Tevfik left the military as a lieutenant in 1865 to work in the translation office of the Sublime Porte. During the years 1868 to 1875 was Tevfik second secretary in the embassies of Rome, Vienna and Berlin. In 1875 he was promoted to first secretary in Athens. After 1872 he was ambassador in Berlin and Athens.

After the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, Ahmed Tevfik deputy in the Parliament.

When the Grand Vizier Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha resigned after the uprising of 31 March, Tevfik was appointed as his successor. After Sultan Abdulhamid II was deposed on 27 April 1909 Tevfik Pasha resigned and was ambassador in London. His second term as Grand Vizier lasted from 11 November 1918 to 10 March 1919. In January 1919, he formed a government, which was close to the Sultan. However, this displeased the freedom and unity of the party and he had to leave his office.

During the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 Tevfik Pasha was the head of the Ottoman delegation. His third and last term as Grand Vizier began on 21 October 1920. It ended on 17 November 1922 as the abolition of the sultanate were also related to the office of Grand Vizier.

In 1934 Tevfik during the naming rights reform in Turkey Okday as a surname to. Ahmed Tevfik Pasha died on 8 October 1936.
