Aileen McLeod

Aileen McLeod ( born August 24, 1971 in East Kilbride ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

McLeod attended Claremont High School in East Kilbride and then went to Edinburgh University, which she left with a master's degree. Subsequently, she completed her doctorate at the University of Central Lancashire. McLeod lives with her partner in Lanark.

Political career

McLeod worked between 2001 and 2004 for the Information Centre of the Scottish Parliament. She then worked for the MEP Alyn Smith in Brussels, and in starting in 2009 for the SNP Members of the Scottish Parliament, Michael Russell. In the 2011 parliamentary elections McLeod ran for the first time for the SNP. In her district of Galloway and West Dumfries but they could not prevail against the Conservatives Alex Fergusson and thus missed the direct mandate. Since McLeod, however, was also placed on the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region South Scotland, she received as a result of the election results a list of the four mandates of the SNP in this election region and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament.
