Ailein duinn

Ailein Duinn ( to German: Dark -haired Alan ) is a Scottish- Gaelic lament for the Ailean Moireasdan ( " Alan Morrison " ) from his fiancee Annag Chaimbeul ( " Anna Campbell " ) was written. Around the year 1773 should have set Ailein of Lewis, the northern part of the twin island of Lewis and Harris from sail to marry Ann on Scalpay or Taransay, both island near the isthmus between the two peninsulas of Lewis and Harris. The ship sank but then Anna lost her will to live and died a few months later. You should have been buried on the beach by Rodel on Harris, where Aileins corpse said to have been washed up on the beach. Before she died, Anna composed this lament for her lost love.

  • Tomb Raider: Legend's soundtrack includes the song with a chorus Ave Maria.
  • Ishka called a melody of Angel Tears.
  • Another version of the lament is found in the track Cura Me by Signum.
  • Capercaillie and Méav Ní Mhaolchatha of Celtic Woman added an interpretation of Ailein Duinn.
  • A version was uncredited of Rome: Total Realism used.
  • The song is also used in the cave Battle of Chaos Legion.
  • In small elements it is sometimes in computer games to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation used on the track.
  • Worlds Inside My Heart by Mohicans includes parts of Ailein Duinn.
  • The Early Music Volume Quadriga Consort in 2010 Ailein Duinn for the CD Ships Ahoy! newly arranged and recorded.
  • The album " Aeon " by the band Annwn includes a sensitive vocal version of the song with harp accompaniment.
