Air Italy

Air Italy SpA is an Italian airline based in Gallarate and based on the Milan Malpensa Airport. It is a subsidiary of the Meridiana.

History

Founding and first years

Air Italy started operations on May 29, 2005. Beginning of 2007, the Egyptian subsidiary Euro Mediterranean Airlines to operate with a Boeing 757 on, this company was renamed in September 2009 in Air Italy Egypt. This presented its flight operations, however, the end of 2009 again, the Boeing 757 has been sold. Another meantime sold subsidiary changed its name in Warsaw under the name Air Poland (until 2011 Air Italy Polska).

Merger with Meridiana Fly

In July 2011 it was announced that Air Italy (now Meridiana ) acquired for a purchase price of EUR 89.9 million, of Meridiana Fly. In February 2012, the Polish subsidiary Air Poland was sold to an investor.

In January 2013, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority Air Italy withdrew for economic reasons until further their permanent operating license, it was replaced by a year as temporary. At the same time it was announced that the company should be promptly fully integrated into the parent Meridiana. Since 2013, all flights of Air Italy Meridiana are marketed under their names, their own website of Air Italy has been switched off.

Destinations

Air Italy has been flying since 2013 exclusively in the route network of the parent company Meridiana and connects several destinations within Italy with each other, including Turin, Bari and Olbia and also offers also flights to Yerevan and Mombasa and to Madagascar, Brazil and the Caribbean. In Germany, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne / Bonn, Dusseldorf, Munich and Frankfurt are served.

As of October 2013, the fleet of Air Italy consists of ten aircraft with an average age of 14.3 years:
