At the beginning of the game you can choose one of four players, the other takes over the computer. Each Tycoon has a certain character and thus of course advantages and disadvantages (eg, product is often sabotaged or has come down his planes, etc.). One can unite or alienate with the other competitors.

In free game you have to lead an airline according to his wishes. It must be before the start nor the base airport, where you then staying choose. You can now carry freight or passenger flights between cities around the world with his aircraft. From the available range aircraft are some very modern (eg B 777-300, B 747-400 ), but others not (eg Tupolev ). There are quite many aircraft since the beginning of the jet - age available, but completely lack the modern Airbus wide- body aircraft. At the beginning you have a starting capital and two medium-range aircraft, others can be purchased new or used. In the parts of evolution and Deluxe can also design their own airplanes and there is a security office where you can protect yourself from sabotage.

The missions range from simple passenger transport to the construction of a rocket launch pad.

It should not be made to the existing code base, but instead find a completely new development. A publication was planned for the first quarter of 2011.

On September 29, 2010 Kalypso Media announced then that Airline Tycoon 2 is, not developed by Realmforge, but by B- Alive, the show is responsible for the Wildlife Park series. The game was released on 13 October 2011.

Criticism

AT Evolution was sold as a full price game, although it is only a content add-on. However, this has to go into debt, according to Armin Gessert the Publisher.
