AK Steel Holding

The AK Steel Corporation is an American steel producer headquartered in West Chester Township, Ohio.

Founded in 1899 as AK Steel Rolling Mill The American Company ( abbreviated ARMCO ) in Middletown, Ohio. 1910, the company opened a second plant in Ashland, Kentucky. In the late 1940s, the company name was changed to Armco Steel Corporation.

1978 was followed by a re-naming of the company in Armco Inc. and in 1985 was the relocation of the company headquarters to New Jersey. Only a few years later, the company entered into a partnership with the Kawasaki Steel Corporation and Itochu Shoji.

Since 1994, AK Steel bears its present name since 2007 and has its headquarters in West Chester Township, Ohio. Between 2008 and 2011, AK Steel has been traded on the New York Stock Exchange in the S & P 500.
