Ã…ke Fridell

Åke Fridell ( born June 23, 1919 in Gävle, † August 26, 1985 in Stockholm) was a Swedish actor.

Life and work

Åke Fridell grew up in Falun, Dalarna, on. Between 1942 and 1944 he attended the Witzansky theater school and took singing lessons. In 1943, he debuted in Ingmar Bergman's play Tivoli. He played at the City Theatre in Helsingborg 1944 to 1946, at the Municipal Theatre in Malmö 1954 to 1960 and at the Municipal Theatre in Stockholm from 1960 up to the 1970s. Throughout his career, he entered, in addition to numerous other engagements in 30 theater productions and ten films Bergmans on. His specialty was the representation blustering and boastful characters or simple minds. One of his most prominent roles was that of blacksmith Plog in Bergman's The Seventh Seal (1957).
