Akhmeta municipality

The municipality Akhmeta (Georgian ახმეტის მუნიციპალიტეტი ) is a Munizipaliteti (Landkreis) in Georgia, in the Kakheti region. The administrative center of the municipality is the city Akhmeta Akhmeta. The area is 2207.6 km ². The Munizipaliteti has 44,100 inhabitants.

In the West it is from the municipality and the municipality Dusheti Tianeti, bounded on the north by Russia with the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, in the east of the Tianetis Telavi and of Russia with the Republic of Dagestan and south by the municipality Sagarejo.

In the municipality are several major attractions. In Georgia are particularly known Bakhtrioni Castle, Kwetera, Alaverdi Monastery, Matanier Zchrakara and others.
