Aksak Maboul

Aksak Maboul, temporarily also Aqsak Maboul, was a Belgian musical project from the environment of rock -in- opposition scene.

Band History

Marc Hollander and Vincent Kenis founded Aksak Maboul in 1977. Through a series of guest musicians (among Chris Joris ) and Marc Moulin as a producer, they released the same year as Marc Hollander & Aksak Maboul her debut album, Onze danses pour la migraine combattre. They mixed it different musical forms and genres such as jazz, world music and electronic music. This experimental style diversity should be the trend for the releases on Hollander's Crammed label, which he founded in 1980.

Work on a second album began in 1979, Michel Berckmans ( Univers Zéro ), Fred Frith and Chris Cutler were among others involved in it. Un peu de l' âme the bandits appeared in 1980 under the band name Aqsak Maboul on Crammed Discs. It developed further experimental and eclectic style of the debut album. In the early 1980s went Aksak Maboul in the band The Honeymoon Killers, recently published seven pieces on a sampler of 1984.
