Al Purvis

Allan Ruggles " Al " Purvis ( born January 9, 1929 in Trochu, Alberta, † August 13 2009 in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia) was a Canadian ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Allan Purvis began his career as a hockey player with the Calgary Buffaloes boys team. He then moved to the senior level of the Edmonton Mercurys. With the team he represented Canada at the World Cup 1950 as well as at the Olympic Winter Games 1952.

Internationally

For Canada Purvis participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 in part in Oslo, where he won the gold medal with his team. In eight games, he scored two goals. Previously, he won with his team already at the World Cup 1950 the gold medal.
