Alabama State Route 47

The Alabama State Route 47 (abbreviated AL 47 ) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama, which runs in a north -south direction.

Course

The State Route begins on U.S. Highway 84 in Mexia and ends in Awin at the Alabama State Route 10

From the Mexia which leads east to Monroeville. From there it runs along with the Alabama State Route 21 about 21 miles to the north to the city of Beatrice. After a cross with the Alabama State Route 265 to extend in an easterly direction until they separate again in Riley. The AL 21 continues towards the north and ends in Montgomery later. The AL 47 crosses Midway and then finally ends in Awin.

History

The first section of the Alabama State Route 47 between Arwin and Monroeville was opened in 1940. In 1957 it was extended by a further section of Monroeville to Mexia and has not changed again since its course.
