Alain Corneau

Alain Corneau ( born August 7, 1943 in Meung -sur -Loire; † August 30, 2010 in Paris) was a French film director and screenwriter.

Life

After training as a musician himself Corneau applied to the film and attended the Institute des hautes études cinématographiques in Paris. In 1969 he began the confession as an assistant director Costa -Gavras ' film. It was followed by several works as an assistant director on various directors. 1973 turned Corneau with Deadly market ( France société anonyme ) his first film as a director. The film was a commercial failure. Only in 1975 he was able to record a small success in the lead roles with the police thriller Police Python 357 with Yves Montand and Simone Signoret. This was followed by César nominations for his films in the following years. His biggest film success was Corneau achieved with the historical drama The seventh string, which in the 1992 Cesar Awards among other prizes in the categories film director and won. To Corneau known directorial work also includes: Choice of Weapons ( 1981), Fort Saganne (1985) and with amazement and trembling ( 2003).
