Alain Perrin ( born October 7, 1956 in Lure, Haute -Saône ) is a French former football player and current football coach.

Playing career

Coaching career

Perrin's coaching career began during his active career. In 1983, he trained under Arsène Wenger from the former youth players of AS Nancy. In 1993 he made ​​his first as a coach at Association Troyes Aube Champagne. He had great success and led the club to 1999 from the fourth to the first division and then in the UEFA Cup. In 2002, he accepted an offer as a coach and manager at Olympique Marseille.

In January 2004, he was released in Marseille because of persistent failure. After that, he was courted by several European clubs. In July 2004 he went as a manager at Al- Ain, a club from the United Arab Emirates. But there he had already vacate his post in October the same year.

In April 2005, he then went to Portsmouth. He replaced Velimir Zajec as a manager. He tried to bring the club to success, but it was already after eight months, in December 2005, dismissed. His record was only four wins from 20 games.

Thereafter he remained for half a year without employment before he was obliged by FC Sochaux. In 2007 he won the French Cup with Sochaux.

At the beginning of the season 2007/ 08 he joined the successor to the retiring Gérard Houllier at Olympique Lyon, was champion and cup winner. From November 2008 to December 2009 he coached the first team AS Saint -Étienne. Since June 2010, he coached the Al -Khor Sports Club in the Qatar Stars League.

On February 26, 2014, he took over as coach for the Chinese national football team.
