Alan Curtis (American actor)

Alan Curtis ( born July 24, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, † February 2nd 1953 in New York, USA; actually: Harold Neberroth ) was an American actor.

Career

The actor initially worked as a model for men's fashion, before he gave in 1936 his debut as an actor. The tall, dark-haired Curtis was initially at MGM under contract. After his credible representation of the no-good husband of Joan Crawford in mannequin he seemed to have a successful career ahead of him. However, most subsequent films no longer corresponded to the quality of his first success, and Curtis was quickly reduced to supporting roles in B- movies. Among the few exceptions was the strip Destiny in 1944, was originally intended as an episode for the film Flesh and the Fantasy, but was taken out. On the side of Gloria Jean Curtis played a corrupt police officer who learns through an encounter with a blind girl a moral purification. Dissatisfied with his career, he retired into private life in 1951 and died two years later.

Alan Curtis was married to actresses Priscilla Lawson and Ilona Massey.
