Albania at the 1972 Summer Olympics

Albania participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich with a delegation of five athletes ( four men and one woman ) participated. It was Albania's first participation in the Olympic Games; followed by the second in 1992 in Barcelona.

Ymer Pampuri won the first part of the competition in the press. In the Olympics, but not the individual disciplines were evaluated, but only the three-way battle. In Albania, however, practiced only the pressures so that Pampuri remained in bumping and tearing. Nevertheless, his partial victory and a new Olympic record was a high point in the Albanian sports history.
