Albania at the Olympics

Albania in 1972 sent athletes to the Olympic Summer Games. It was followed by a 20 - year break. Only in 1992 sent the Komiteti Olimpik Kombetar Shqiptar, which had been founded in 1958, re- athletes to the Olympic Games. As the first and only Albanians Erjon Tola took in 2006 and 2010 Winter Games in part.

A total of 40 participants were sent among them twelve women. Athletes from Albania could yet win any medals. A peak in the Albanian sports history was Ymer Pampuris partial victory and a new Olympic record in Munich in 1972. Pampuri won the first part of the competition in the press. In the Olympics, but not the individual disciplines were evaluated, but only the three-way battle. In Albania, however, practiced only the pressures so that Pampuri remained in bumping and tearing.

The swimmer Noel Borshi was 2012 in London youngest participant with 16 years of Albania. The marksman Lindita Kodra was in Beijing in 2008 at age 46 the oldest athlete.
