Barbados at the Olympics
The Barbados Olympic Association is the National Olympic Committee of Barbados. It was founded in 1955 and recognized in the same year by the International Olympic Committee.
So far, the athletes of the Caribbean island participated in eleven Summer Games. A total of 106 athletes entered, including 17 women, at. The Olympic debut took place in 1968. Except for the boycotted 1980 Moscow Games was sent to all the other Summer Games sports. On winter games so far participated No athletes of the island nation.
The first and only medal winner is the athlete Obadele Thompson, the 2000 won the bronze medal over 100 meters.
The latest member of the team in 1972 was the swimmer Heather Gooding, which took at the age of 14 years. The sailor Richard Hoad was in 1992 at age 61 the oldest participants.
